Indian Weddings

Hello everybody! I have a question about Indian wedding ceremonies. O and I are getting married and we are wanting to do an Indian wedding however we have no clue where to begin. Does anybody have any helpful advice on how to plan an Indian wedding and how much it cost. We have pretty much set a date but that is about how far our planning has begun? Any advice would be very helpful!

Hi Gorirani!

Well, first off, are you planning on having your ceremony in India or the US? Second, what ethnicity is O - different regions of India have dramatically different traditions for weddings, so you'll need to figure out what sort of traditions you want to incorporate.

If you're planning on marrying in the US, and will have no help in planning from people in India, I would suggest first trying to find a Hindu priest you're comfortable with, and discuss what sort of ceremonies he's put on before. He might also be able to suggest places to get clothes, food, etc.
